For most of your fieldwork, R1 tires with 1 1/2″ high lugs will serve you well. However, if your farm is wetter, we can order R1W tractor tires for 20% deeper lugs. With lugs twice as deep, R2 tires are available, too, but our area soil types are not wet enough to require those. If your farming operation utilizes specialty equipment, let us help you with the appropriate tires, including R3/turf tires and R4/industrial tires for loaders. Tire selections are available in both standard and metric measurements, ensuring the proper fit regardless of the brand of tractor you own. Agricultural tires are constructed to be tough, but they won’t last forever. Consider tire replacement if you notice cracking, punctures, missing lugs, or reduced grip/performance. Bias ply tires designed for farm applications typically last between 2,000 and 3,000 hours of use. Radial farm tires usually hold up for 3,000 to 5,000 working hours. Even if some of your less frequently used pieces of equipment don’t reach the upper limits of hours, they tend to harden or rot over time, so you should plan on replacement by at least the eight-year mark.
